Goto offered few clues at his ordination, reportedly brushing off questions about his decision with a curt statement: "Buddha will make me his disciple and enable me to start a new life." Adelstein, who went into hiding in fear for his life after his story was published, recommends that his tormentor fill out an organ donor card and give his liver to a "more deserving" person. "It would be a good and final chance for him to achieve some absolution. Because I think that the odds are he's going to be experiencing reincarnation first hand, a lot sooner than he expects."

Newspapers Catch Up To Our Goto Coverage: 毎日新聞と朝日新聞は遅れて後藤組問題の結末を報道

October 20th, 2008. Japan’s top two newspapers covered the end of Goto Tadamasa’s reign as head of the Goto-gumi today.　Probably, they didn’t feel this was the most pressing of stories. Maybe they didn’t have the resources to stay on top of the story. Who knows?  The Mainichi Shinbun has done some good coverage. All of it in Japanese.
