Just some quick news: Kiyoshi Takayama, second in command of the Yamaguchi-gumi, was arrested Thursday during a raid of his home in Kobe.

And it was an honor to be mentioned. Hiroko Tabuchi did a great job on this story and it turns out to be very prescient. She was working it on weeks before Takayama’s arrest. I think it’s one of the best things written on the yakuza in the business world and Japan’s efforts to remove them from it, especially the construction industry.
