Journalism requires, as a rule, the real names of the people involved and JIm had already left the FBI by the time the Washington Post article was published. I felt that with an increasingly angry Goto Tadamasa making his moves and anxious to keep his back-door deal with the FBI quiet--that Jim might also be in danger. A public target is a lot harder to hit. I have nothing but respect for Jim. It's sad that Goto didn't live up to his end of the deal. In gathering criminal intelligence, sometimes you have to make unsavory deals with unsavory people---a greater good may come out of it. It's always a tough call. The Japanese are playing possum with the Yakuza, they don't have the right tools needed to take them out and never will get the chance to take them out if the government is scared. Oh well.
