The article stated that Jim Moynihan "was replaced." My understanding was that he hit the mandatory retirement age. I've met the man, awesome guy, can drink like a tank.

Jim Moynihan is a great guy and the deal he made with Goto Tadamasa (with FBI approval) was a brilliant idea and it yielded some good criminal intelligence. Journalism requires, as a rule, the real names of the people involved and JIm had already left the FBI by the time the Washington Post article was published. I felt that with an increasingly angry Goto Tadamasa making his moves and anxious to keep his back-door deal with the FBI quiet--that Jim might also be in danger. A public target is a lot harder to hit. I have nothing but respect for Jim. It's sad that Goto didn't live up to his end of the deal. In gathering criminal intelligence, sometimes you have to make unsavory deals with unsavory people---a greater good may come out of it. It's always a tough call.

Why did you write out the name of FBI guy, James Moynihan? Was he a dirty FBI guy? Or, was his deal with Goto so heinous that he needs a media lynching? I would guess this ended his FBI career.

Keep up great reporting.

Funny, I never suspected that the Yakuza had such a influence over everything in Japan.

The Japanese are playing possum with the Yakuza, they don't have the right tools needed to take them out and never will get the chance to take them out if the government is scared.

Oh well.
